Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Facility

Contenuti 19/01/2026

The Facility houses a 400 MHz FT-NMR equipped with a SmartProbe BBFO and a Fourier 80 benchtop cryogen-free NMR. The facility supports the full range of chemical sciences research across the department and university including synthetic organic and inorganic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, biochemistry, etc.

LOCATION

HOW TO BOOK

All the researchers can book the laminar flow hoods using the online system and log in with accredited credentials (http://147.162.61.199/strumenti2/day.php). All the other instruments of the Facility can be used without booking.

Time of slot 15 min. Instructions and a specific and adequate training for the correct and safe use of the Cell Culture Facility equipment are provided to users. The staff members will release a certificate of attendance that allows users to use the equipment and will enable their badges to open the respective doors.

Users have to follow facility rules.

EQUIPMENT
400 MHz FT-NMR

400 MHz Avance FT-NMR equipped with:
– SmartProbe BBFO 5mm BBF/1H (air)
– X-nuclei optimized 5mm double resonance broad banded BBFO SmartProbe
– X-nuclei observation with 1H decoupling
and for 1H observation
– The X-nuclei range corresponds to 19F and the broad band (BBF) range 31P-109Ag
– Multipurpose probe with highest sensitivities for X and 1H detection

Features:
– Designed for X-nuclei (BBF) observation
– BBF range: 19F, 31P-109Ag
– 1H decoupling and observation
– 2H lock
– Z-gradient with 5 G/A*cm
– Automated Tuning & Matching (2G ATM)
– VT range: -150 °C to +150 °C
– VT gas: Air

The instrument allows the characterization and identification of organic and organometallic compounds (both pure compounds and mixtures). Bidimensional spectra (NOESY, COSY, TOCSY, HMBC, HSQC, etc) can be recorded in few minutes if the samples have the right concentrations.

Fourier 80

The Fourier, an 80 MHz high-performance nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) benchtop spectrometer designed for the routine laboratory. With a cryogen-free magnet design, the Fourier makes NMR accessible in the lab where users and operators work.

Easy to Use: The Fourier features GoScan™, a newly developed modern interface which guides users through pre-defined, dedicated workflows.

Pulsed field gradients, an automatic sample changer, and adjustable temperature all provide higher sample throughput, optimized synthesis, and process control.
